5 tips to saving money while burning energy
Staying active shouldn’t break the bank, especially when you have a home loan. Here are some ideas to help you keep up your fitness while paying down your home.
1. Take advantage of the great outdoors
There’s a world of free activities outside that provide exercise and fresh air without any cost. Go for a walk, run or bike ride around the neighbourhood. Or get a group together for outdoor activities like soccer, basketball or volleyball at your local sporting facilities.
2. There’s no place like home
These days there are heaps of free fitness channels and videos for different fitness levels and interests such as yoga, cardio or strength that you can stream at home. For extra inspiration and guidance you could also follow fitness influencers on social media.
3. There’s an app for that
While you’re at it why not check out fitness challenges and apps too. They’re a good way to stay motivated and accountable. Plus you can usually you can track your progress over time and they can provide a great sense of community too.
4. Join the gym at a healthy rate
If you prefer the gym, shop around for discounted memberships. Many offer special rates at specific times of the year, especially the start of the new year or spring. It’s also a highly competitive industry, so don’t be afraid to haggle for a better deal.
5. Get more community minded
If a fancy gym’s not for you, maybe check out your local YMCA or council recreation centre instead. They often offer more affordable fitness options. Also, look out for free or low-cost yoga classes, boot camps or fitness workshops organised by local organisations.
