Savings Booster
Add your Tax File Number (TFN).
Providing your TFN is optional, but if you don’t provide it, tax may be withheld from any interest earned on your savings account.
Adding your TFN helps ensure you’re paid the full amount of interest you’re entitled to receive, subject to your personal tax circumstances.
How to add your TFN
You can add your TFN through Online Banking:
- Log in to Online Banking via ING.com.au (noting you can’t update your TFN on the ING app).
- Select My Profile from the left-hand menu.
- Select Tax File Number.
- Choose the account you’d like to update.
- Follow the prompts to add your TFN.
Helpful tip
You can choose which eligible account(s) you’d like your TFN applied to. If you’re unsure whether your TFN has been recorded, you can check your TFN status in Online Banking.
Why should I add my TFN?
While providing your TFN isn’t compulsory, Australian tax rules may require tax to be withheld from interest earned on your account if a TFN hasn’t been provided.
